Presentation: PrEP for Positives: Engaging People with HIV in Biomedical Prevention
Time: Breakout Session 3
The introduction of PrEP and PEP into the HIV prevention toolkit has been a game changer for prevention workers. A recent report by the American Society for Microbiology found a 500% increase in uptake, but many of those seeking the new treatment are not from the most at-risk groups. In this presentation we will hear stories from people with HIV who do prevention work, promote PrEP, and are members of those groups. We will also examine successful ways we have engaged people with HIV in PrEP outreach and education.
1. Know the basics of PrEP and PEP and how to access it.
2. Understand the impact of people with HIV’s perspective in HIV prevention
3. Examine proven engagement strategies of people living with HIV
